Something you never tought you would be a part of.

Well this week was crazy we taught a couple people and knocked on a lot of doors but there was one crazy experience that happened this week!
2 weeks ago we had picked up two new investigators named Jacob and Jordan they are 20 year old twins. last week we had planned on seeing them on Friday. so we text Jordan cause he is the one that has a phone on Thursday to see if they could still meet. he said that he had moved to Illinois with his girl friend. so we asked if Jacob would still be there and he said yes. so on friday we were out door knocking and felt like we should go to Jacobs and 45 mins early. we were driving there and saw a big group of kids and one of them looked like Jacob but we weren't sure so we hurry and drove to the apartment and knocked on his door and no one answered. so we ran back down and jumped in the car to go and find the group of kids that we had saw to see if it was Jacob. we drove around Bangor which is about the size of parowan. and we found him. but he was wearing different clothes. so we stopped him and started talking to him. he said that Jordan had moved and the he could meet today cause he was going to a party. so we just told him to stay out of trouble and he left. then we saw his twin brother running across the street so we stopped him. and the second on was actually Jacob! the first one was Jordan and he played us. but jacob was like hey guys you wanna still meet today and we said yeah of course. so we went down to a park down the street. We had a prayer and started teaching him about the plan of salvation. we taught him the pre earth life, Adam and eve, the creation, our life here on earth, and the Atonement. the lesson was going really well then the spirit hit hard and it just shot through the roof! Jacob said i want you guys to know that ever since i met with you guys last week i have had this weird feeling that i just cant get rid of. i asked him what the feeling felt like and he just said it was like a burst of joy inside me!. we explained to him that that was the spirit. then he told us what had happened to him last week. this is what he said," last week i was walking home and 4 guys jumped me and beat me up pretty good. after that i felt like i just wanted to be done with everything! i was sick of life i was sick of being in the situation is was in and i was just done... so i decide i was going to take my life... i had it all planned out. i had the rope ready and i was ready to do it. my brother came in screaming and yelling and trying to get me not to do it but i had already made up my mind. we started fight yelling cause i was going to do it. then i remembered that book that you guys gave me, and something in my head told me to read it. so i grabbed the book and ran to the park that we are at right now and started reading it." at this point me and elder mafile'o were like this is crazy there is no way this is happening. then he reached across the table and grab elder m's book of Mormon and opened up to Jacob 2:10 he said " i opened the book to this scripture and it hit me and it just all made sense that everything happens for a reason and God loves me!" it was the craziest thing i have ever seen. he then told us that since then he hasn't had the desire to drink or do drugs any more. he was suppose to get kicked out of his apartment for selling drugs. but now he can stay till June and has found another place to live. he is reading the book of Mormon and he came to church on Sunday! Jacob is awesome and has a true desire to do good in life! i know that this church is true! and i know that the Book of Mormon contains the fullness of the gospel! if you are ever struggling just kneel down and pray and read some of the book of Mormon! i challenge you all if you haven't got on your knees and prayed in awhile to do it and to read some of the Book of Mormon and see how much better your day goes i hope you guys all have a good week! love you guys

South Haven

well this week was good! we picked up 5 New investigators! and we did a whole lot of door knocking. Three of the new gators we found are pretty solid. there is jordan and jacob who we door knocked into last week. they are both 20 and twin brothers we taught them the restoration and the really like it jordan asked if he could come to church! It was awesome. they live about 15 miles out of town and there are not any members that live out there so we werent able to find him a ride but hopefully next week! then there is cody. he lived with some members as a foster kids for about two years and went to church with them and went to youth conference and everything. we door knocked into him last week also and we were able to meet up with him! he is an awesome kid he is 17 and has a true desire to come back to church and to be baptized! The weather was nice this week it was around 70 on satruday! Elder mafile'o got hit up by some 50 year old black lady! she was walking out of the store and was said boy whats your name! you are hecka cute! It was pretty flippin funny! it was a good but slower week! we were also able to put on of our other investigators on date! i know that the church is true despite what everyone else says! i hope that you all have a good week!

South Haven

Well the first week in south haven was good but different! South Haven is part beach town part redneckville! we cover the town and alot of the country surroding it! the beach is awesome and so and the members! the branch is tiny! i counted 45 people is sacrament. the town is a big tourist town. the town size doubles over when summer hits because of all the people that come from down in florida. we have already talked to a couple of people from Florida! The work here is a lot different then grand rapids! in the week i have been here we have already door knocked into like 5 former investigators with out even knowing they were formers til we dialed their phone numbers and their numbers were already in the phone. we also taught a pastor of a church and went to his bible study. after the bible study his wife asked us a question, " so i have heard and i was wondering that is it true that if you guys try to leave your church they will send people to come and kill you?" haha it was pretty funny. then they gave us a pamphlet they had been reading. it was a anti pampphlet that said crazy stuff like we worship Joseph Smith and we believe he is a modern day Jesus Christ. haha then the next day we went to an "bible Study" at a pentecostal church where they had some rocking music but no bible study.  we were able to do some service this morning and move some people out of their house. Elder Mafile'o is whooping me into shape. we are starting to lift in the morniings. he was going to play for The utes for football as a linebacker but messed up his shoulder his last high school game. but i know that this church is true no matter where you are and no matter where you go there is a church and you can feel the same spirit! i love you all and i hope you all have a great week!

1st transferes

well it has been a long week but a goo one. i figured i would transfer but we got our transfer calls early. it has been hard to leave grand rapids and to leave all the great people that you have meet here but i know that my new area and new companion will be awesome! i am going to serve in South Haven which is like a little southern California Beach town on lake michigan.and my companion is elder Mafile'o who is from hawaii. he has been out a tranfer less than me but heard he is a hard worker and likes to hunt. his weapons of choice are his bare hands and knifes so we shold get along.   there are about 4,000 people there year round but a lot of tourists from florida and other places have beach houses there! it is a small branch of about 60 but i have heard great things about South Haven and i am excited to serve there. This week we got to see a couple of good people that we havent seen in a while. we saw louie, Lyndsay, and we were able to catch up with Cassandra. Cassandra is the lady me and elder Elmer gave a blessing to her Boy Alex who had to have his leg amptutated. the elders in grand rapids are teaching her now. not a whole lot to say but i know that mission is wear i am suppose to be even though they are hard the heck sometimes i know it will make me a better father to my kids and a better husband to my wife! i know this is where i am suppose to be and i know that this church is true! i love you all and i hope you have a good week! this is my district and brother baker who was probably one of my favorite members!
